Making sure people in Britain keep their jobs might be tricky as computers get smarter, according to the head of the UK government’s AI Taskforce. He noted that this is likely to happen all around the world, so everyone will need to think about how we work. Some economies might get more jobs because of computers, but others might lose jobs.

Evidence is mounting that the innovators are already starting to adopt AI; BT said they may reduce current job roles by around 10,000 workers in the next ten years. However, these will likely be replaced by data, creative and accountability roles. As noted in a special report from Goldman Sachs, 60% of the jobs we have today didn’t exist at the turn of this century.
